Port Townsend Food Co-Op members prevailed in the political battle that BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) supporters unleashed on their little town, starting in July 2010. The proposed boycott of Israeli products was sounded REJECTED in September, 2010, because the Food Co-Op board had time to intelligently deliberate and discuss the proposal, with extensive input from members.
This is in contrast to the Olympia Food Co-Op, which had the proposal rammed through with no process for Co-Op members to give input, or to thoroughly analyze and consider the proposal.
The BDS movement is led by Palestinian activists and others who support their cause - BDS seeks to portray Israel as an evil country that oppresses other people. In their attempts to villify Israel and therefore also create a hostile environment for Jews worldwide, the BDS movement makes outrageous claims that portray Israelis as muderous and subhuman. We hope that this website provides resources to other communities that are attacked through this BDS mechanism.
