Israeli official urges PT not to boycott products

If people want to support Palestinians then they should invest in the Palestinian economy, not boycott products made in Israel, an Israeli envoy told a crowd last Sunday at the Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

Gideon Lustig, deputy consul general of the San Francisco Consulate General of Israel, spoke to and then took questions from a crowd of more than 100, many of whom agreed with him, some of whom appeared to have come to share their disapproval of Israel’s policies toward Palestine.

Lustig came to Port Townsend not only to speak to people interested in a proposed boycott of a half dozen Israeli made products at the Food Co-op, but he also acknowledged an interest in speaking to the seven-member co-op board that was to decide last night, Tuesday, Sept. 21, whether to boycott the products. “Getting six Israeli products out of the shelves is attacking the only Democratic state in the Middle East,” Lustig said at the end of his talk. He received a round of applause.
